Hearing on the Action Plan of the European Pillar of Social Rights

On May 10, 2021, the eTIC federation participated in this hearing organized by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).

Après avoir demandé une « feuille de route » pour mettre en œuvre le Socle Européen des Droits Sociaux, le CESE prépare un avis sur le plan d’action proposé par la Commission européenne et suite aux engagements des chefs d’états et de gouvernement pris lors du Sommet de Porto.

To feed into this opinion, a virtual/hybrid public hearing was organized to gather the views of institutions and civil society on the proposal and ideas for strengthening it. 

The eTIC federation responded to the invitation and participated in this hearing with the main actors of European civil society. 

eTIC welcomes the ambitious declaration of the Heads of State and Government of Saturday 8 May 2021 at the Porto Summit and their commitments which give a new and strong impulse to Social Europe.

However, eTIC expects effective action plans that promote the full implementation of the 20 principles.

Reaffirming its full support for the European Social Rights Framework, the eTIC federation, active and vigilant, intends to play its full role in the concrete implementation of these European ambitions which must be translated at the EU level and in each of the EU member states.

Context: 

La Commission européenne (CE) s’est engagée à faire du Socle Européen des Droits Sociaux la boussole de la relance de l’Europe et le meilleur outil de l’UE pour garantir que l’avenir de l’Europe soit socialement juste et que personne ne soit laissé pour compte. Alors que le Socle vise à mieux garantir les droits des citoyens en s’appuyant sur 20 principes sociaux, le plan d’action propose trois grands objectifs à atteindre d’ici 2030 et présente des initiatives concrètes pour faire de ce socle une réalité.
